The alluring siren call of the Caribbean, with its vibrant cultures, vivid sunsets, and some of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes, is irresistible to many a traveler. A Caribbean cruise offers the quintessential escape to a world where the sands are white, the waters are an inviting shade of turquoise, and the laid-back atmosphere makes every moment feel like paradise. Today, let’s embark on a virtual island-hopping journey aboard our cruise, starting and ending in the beautiful island of Barbados, and discovering the unique charms of Martinique, St. Kitts & Nevis, the British Virgin Islands, St. Maarten, Antigua, Grenada, and St. Lucia along the way.

Starting Point: Barbados

Our journey begins in Barbados, a dynamic island that’s as eclectic as it is beautiful. Known for its rich history and vibrant culture, Barbados is the perfect place to start our trip. Stroll along the famous Carlisle Bay, relax on the soft sands of Bathsheba Beach, or explore the historic streets of Bridgetown, bustling with life and peppered with colonial architecture.

Martinique

Our first stop is the French gem of the Caribbean, Martinique. This island blends French chic with Caribbean cool, offering stunning natural beauty and cultural depth. Hike the lush trails of the Balata Gardens, or visit the imposing Mont Pelée, which stands as a reminder of the island’s volcanic nature. The capital, Fort-de-France, captivates with its Creole cuisine and the vibrant library designed by Henri Picq.

St. Kitts & Nevis

Next, we set sail for the dual-island nation of St. Kitts & Nevis. On St. Kitts, visit Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then perhaps spend some time lounging on the sandy shores of Frigate Bay. Nevis, the smaller of the two, offers a quieter, charming escape with its pristine beaches and former sugar plantations, now repurposed into luxurious inns and resorts.

British Virgin Islands

Our voyage then takes us to the British Virgin Islands, a volcanic archipelago that is a haven for sailing and diving enthusiasts. Explore the Baths of Virgin Gorda, where giant boulders create mysterious seawater pools and grottos. On Tortola, you can indulge in local Caribbean dishes and shop for handicrafts in the bustling Road Town markets.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten, with its unique Dutch and French dual governance, offers a fascinating blend of cultures. The island is famous for Maho Beach, where planes fly thrillingly close to sunbathers, and the charming waterfront of Marigot provides excellent dining and shopping options. Don’t forget to try some local rum-based delicacies!

Antigua

In Antigua, our next stop, you’re never far from a stunning beach – there are 365 of them, one for each day of the year! The island is renowned for its historical sites such as Nelson’s Dockyard and Shirley Heights, which offers panoramic views of the island, particularly at sunset.

Grenada

Known as the “Island of Spice,” Grenada offers more than just scenic beaches. Visit the Dougaldston Spice Estate to see how nutmeg and other spices are processed. Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy Grand Etang National Park, home to a diverse range of fauna and flora, and Lake Antoine, a natural volcanic crater lake.

St. Lucia

Our final port before returning to Barbados is St. Lucia, an island famous for its dramatic twin coastal peaks, the Pitons. This lush paradise is home to volcanic beaches, reef-diving sites, luxury resorts, and fishing villages. Don’t miss the Sulphur Springs in Soufrière, the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano.

Disembark: Barbados
